Automatic gate valve.

Valves may also be automatic driven by changes in pressure temperature or flow. Also known as 3 3 valves these valves close all ports in the off position to stop equipment in a locked position with air pressure holding it in place. They re often used for vacuum suction and release applications and intermediate cylinder stops. Gate valves have a bonnet for a leak proof seal usually a screw in union or bolted type.

Gate valves are typically used to permit or prevent the flow of liquids and are not recommended for regulating flow. Gate valves with actuators use a threaded stem to connect the actuator to the gate via a drive nut around the threads allowing the nut to be turned with a hand wheel or motor. They can be disassembled for in line servicing. Examples of this type of valve found commonly are safety valves fitted to hot water systems or boilers.
